Simone Biles Is Officially Married! Inside Her Final Dress Fitting at Galia Lahav

Tonight, gymnast and seven-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles married Houston Texans safety Jonathan Owens in Cabo, Mexico in front of 144 guests. The sports world power couple first officially said “I do” last month in a civil ceremony at the Harris County Courthouse in Houston, Texas. “We had to get married ‘legally’ here in the U.S. since our wedding will be a destination wedding,” the most decorated gymnast in history explained to a fan. In subsequent posts on Instagram, she went on to reveal that a larger celebration was to follow.

Simone and Jonathan first met on the celebrity dating app Raya in 2020 when the gold medalist made the first move, sliding into his DMs. Their relationship became more serious when Simone’s sister invited Jonathan to join them on a family trip to their lake house. After that, Simone and Jonathan began spending more and more time together. The football player has said that when they first met, he wasn’t familiar with her stardom—which Simone has revealed as one of the things that drew her to him most. The fact that they connected at the beginning of the pandemic meant that for once in Simone’s busy working life, she was in the same place for a prolonged period,giving them both the time and space for their courtship to unfold—which eventually led to a Valentine’s Day proposal in 2022.

But before the big wedding in Cabo (and the city hall ceremony to make things official) Vogue caught up with Simone at the Galia Lahav atelier in downtown New York to capture her final wedding dress fitting. “I found my dress in the DMs, [and] I found my future husband in the DMs!” Simone jokes.
