Patrick and Brittany Mahomes walked a third red carpet in a busy week on Saturday at the Kentucky Derby, scoring a winning fashion trifecta.
They made a quick stop on the Derby’s famous carpet, where dramatic hats are de rigueur. But Brittany saved the drama for her footwear.
By Derby standards, the Chiefs quarterback and his wife, co-owners of the KC Current women’s soccer team, kept it understated.
She wore a purple Chanel minidress with a pink tweed-like pattern and halter-style top with pearl straps. Her tiny purse matched the dress.
White flowers and a sprinkle of white pearls decorated the wide brim of her pink hat, worn on a slant atop runway-perfect curls. A dark purple feather swooped high off the brim.
Her shoes stole the show: Tom Ford pink platform sandals on six-inch heels ($2,150) in metallic leather and metallic rope fabric with a hanging lock and key logo charm. Adjustable pink ties were wrapped several times around her ankles.

The couple wore bolder party clothes Friday night when they walked the red carpet before the Barnstable Brown Kentucky Derby Eve Gala in Louisville, considered the primo Derby gala. Brittany wore a figure-hugging, neon-orange strapless dress with a sexy, draped neckline.
Patrick, who was tapped to give the traditional “Riders up!” call for the jockeys just before the race, wore blue trousers with a jacket of green and blue plaid.
He usually skips socks when he’s in formal wear. But for this daytime event, the Super Bowl MVP wore — gasp! — socks with brown dress shoes.
His sunglasses appeared to be blue-mirrored Frogskins by Oakley. Mahomes has created collections for the company, an official partner of the NFL.
He was expected to give the command to the jockeys about 19 minutes before the start of the race. Post time is 5:57 p.m. Central time.
