Patrick Mahomes and his wife’s successful and lovely road to the Super Bowl

One of the most famous couples in the NFL is undoubtedly that of Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, and his wife Brittany Matthews, who since the first Super Bowl the Chiefs reached in the 2019 season and until today, have gone through a lot as a couple, so their story is full of good times that have happened to them.

Now that the Chiefs are reaching their third Super Bowl in four years, things are very different from that first time, so we’ll take a look back at the most significant moments for the couple.

Super bowl LVII will take place this Sunday in Glendale, Arizona, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, in a game that if won by the Chiefs, would put Mahomes on the path of the greatest quarterbacks in history to have won more than one Lombardi Trophy.

Feb. 2: Patrick Mahomes wins his first Super Bowl when the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Miami. Mahomes was named MVP of the game.

March 31: Mahomes and Matthews celebrate eight years together. They share photos of themselves, who have been high school sweethearts, on social media.
Sept. 1: After the traditional championship ring ceremony, held at Arrowhead Stadium, Patrick proposes to his longtime girlfriend.
Sept. 29: Mahomes and Matthews announce they are expecting their first child.

2021

Feb. 7: Patrick returned with the Chiefs to the Super Bowl, but they lost to Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Feb. 20: Mahomes and Matthews become parents to a baby girl, Sterling Skye Mahomes. They share the news to the world via Instagram.

2022

March 12: Patrick and Brittany marry in an intimate ceremony in Hawaii. Their honeymoon was in St. Barthelemy.
May 29: The couple announces Matthews’ second pregnancy in a joint Instagram post. “Round 2!” the QB wrote.
Nov. 28: The couple’s second child, a boy they named Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, is born on Instagram. So far they have not made the little one’s face public.

2023

Jan. 10: Mahomes joins his wife as co-owner of Kansas City Current, a women’s soccer organization co-founded by Chris and Angie Long.
Jan. 29: The Chiefs exact revenge and defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC championship game to reach the Super Bowl for the third time in four years.
